Tsutomu Yamaguchi

Tsutomu Yamaguchi is not an artist or a member of some obscure indie band. He's actually an engineer and a teacher but what he did do was survive the 2 atomic bombs tragedies in Japan. And not like he wasn't in japan when it happened. Back in 1945, yamaguchi is hanging out in hiroshima, about to head home on the train when he realizes he forgets something back at the office. He goes back, hear's enola gay (the plane, not the song) flying over head and next thing you know, there's a big explosion, the city's on fire and 140,000 japanese people are dead. But not tsutomu. He suffers a few burns and gets bandaged. He than goes to Nagasaki the next day to work, I don't know, you'd think he take a day off or something but he doesn't. But for whatever reason, harry s. truman decides to drop a 2nd atomic bomb and 80,000 more people are dead. But not tsutomu, still standing and probably giving the US the finger. Tsuotmu Yamaguchi is the only official survivor of the two bombings. His only complaint late in life was a little deaf in one ear and his legs were getting weak. Hell, he was 93 years old. Tsutomu Yamaguchi passed away last monday due to stomach cancer.

The kiwano - should I eat it?

This is the kiwano. Its bright orange and thorny which is normally nature's way of saying, "don't mess with me!". But yet grocery stores sell it so it must be ok right? Well I never had one before so I'm intrigued because it looks like some alien fruit from a distant planet. Well, maybe all fruits actually do. Look at the apple, its red on the outside but whitish yellow on the inside, why is that? Anyway I cut the kiwano open and its green! I take my spoon and start gouging at it to take a bite. Its kinda a cross between a cucumber and a lime without much to eat. It also cost 4.99 for a fruit native to africa but grown in california and new zealand.
Much like the prom, I guess I did it, taking a bite, but was it really worth it. No.

2010

Normally I do not have new year's resolutions not because of some fight the power agenda but rather, I've always been my biggest fan so everything is usually all good. However, my self esteem has taken a little tumble of late, so like the little engine that could, I gotta say "I think I can I think I can". For 2010.
1. Learn to take a shower in public. No I don't mean like at the beach or under some breathtaking fall in brazil. I mean like taking a shower in the men's locker room. I'll be joining a gym soon and I have to admit, I have never liked walking around with my pee pee showing - its either gonna be shy and hide behind its hoodie or its gonna get excited and stand up looking at everyone. Its embarrassing either way. Maybe if I stop calling it a "pee pee", I'll get over it. A pork sword?
2. Finish my never ending comic. Some people advertise their product as, "it took 7 years to make" or "a project of a lifetime" but in reality, it just means they're god damn lazy. If martin cendreda, steve weissman and jordan crane who are full time dads, can finish comics and prints, why can't I do one mini comic? Actually they're all exceptionally skinny and scrawny, thus resolution number 1...errr, joining the gym, not showing them my groinburger.
3. Learn how to make a grill cheese sandwich. Yes! I know its not difficult but I never did it and just feel that its a rite of passage that every boy and girl should go through.
4. Blog more. Seems like more and more people are leaving LJ, some don't have as much to write while some have moved to other platforms like wordpress. Hmm, maybe I'll put more pics of semi nekkid girls up to grab back readership...or maybe just write more.
5. Crushing on someone new. I don't know that I have a choice in this but one of the best things about having a real crush is that its like drinking ice water. You receive a sensation that reminds you that you're alive.
